Discipline and Salah

The Messenger of Allah (saw)ha said:
"Amongst the best gifts a father gives his son, none is better than an excellent etiquette and elegant manners"
(Tirmidhi)
In the interest of an effective teaching and learning environment we require all pupils to behave in accordance to the schools discipline policy. Any child enrolled at this school must conform to the behaviour and dress code as set by the school. We aim to teach our pupils to have an Islamic personality. Any bad behaviour, rudeness and disrespect to staff and pupils, backbiting, lying and deliberate damage to school property is treated very seriously. The punishment for such repetitive behaviour will be decided either by the member of staff concerned, the head teacher or by the board of governors according to the severity of the matter.
The Head Teacher is responsible for the maintenance of good order and the safety of children and has to act as a reasonable parent would do. We have a very high expectation about pupil conduct and will not allow learning or teaching to be interrupted by poor behaviour.
Violence or bullying of any kind is created extremely seriously and any pupil displaying such behaviour is likely to be excluded from school. Pupils who threaten other pupils and who carry out threats and intimidation outside school will be treated in the same way as if the incident occurred in school. We count on parental support in this matter.
The school operates a range of sanctions including detention. A teacher may detain a child for up to 15 minutes at the end of the school day without prior notice to the parents. For serious misdemeanours detention may be longer than 15 minutes but no more than an hour - parents are given at least 24 hours notice together with the reason for the detention.
Salah
"And perform As-Salat (the Prayer)and give Zakat, and submit yourselves with obedience to Allah along with Ar- Raki'un"
(Surah Baqarah:43)
Salaah is the 2nd pillar of Islam therefore one of the top priorities of the school is the correct and punctual performance of salaah. The school has appropriate ablution (wudhu)facilities. The school also provides a prayer hall where the girls can perform their salaah under supervision.
We ensure that pupils perform salaah. Salaah is monitored regularly and the school aims to have parents involved,so that they can emphasise the importance of saiaah in their children. We have a strict policy for pupils who do not perform salaah. The school believes that Salaah instills in the pupils positive atitudes which are crucial for the spiritual and intellectual development of a child.
"And enjoin As-Salat (the Prayer) on your family and be patient in offering them."
(Surah Ta-Ha:132)
